Harvey Nichols 10th Anniversary Press Party

There are many perks of being a Life&Style Editor: one being you get to deal with interesting, mostly light-hearted, glamorous topics on a daily basis. Another; is the exclusive, allusive, non-inclusive notion of the press party.

Last Thursday, my co-Editor Lara and I glammed up and were chauffeur driven (courtesy of the ultra glam Castle Cars) to the Mailbox in Birmingham to celebrate the 10th Birthday of the Harvey Nichols store.

The Thursday before Alexandra's appearance on X Factor - she did not Put it Down.

The party was circus themed and outside, in spite of the rain, were acts on ridiculously high stilts complete with fire and various spinning dangerous-looking props. Although the exterior was impressive, the fairy lights, red carpet, magicians and glamorous guests inside far exceeded it.

You couldn’t reach for a mini hamburger canapé without accidentally elbowing a Corrie throwback from six years ago and metaphorically elbowing them when asking the question “So what are you up to now?” and getting the response “Auditioning..” Despite this part of the evening being mildly depressing (but also amusing) the delight we experienced when bumping into the stars of TOWIE even surpassed our expectations. The newbie TOWIE girls Cara Kilbey and Billi Mucklow were our BFFs of the night, indulging in numerous discussions about their dislike for Sam and Billie (major goss) and Cara picking up my bag when I clumsily dropped it on the floor – ahh the sweet scent of friendship.

Meeting and posing for photographs with Joey Essex was the icing on top of a very glamorous cake. Although perhaps not being the pinnacle of journalistic experience to add to my CV in terms of employability – it was an evening and experience that, dare I say it, may be one of my most enjoyable in journalism so far..?
